Section Eight: 3-D Editor

The 3-D Editor is used for creating and editing the objects used by HVE. These objects are broadly categorized as human, vehicle or environment objects. The user creates and edits these objects using the 3-D Editor's selection of creation and editing tools. The 3-D Editor can also edit objects created using other programs. This important capability allows the user to create named overlays and add friction properties to objects used by HVE.

General Procedure

To use the 3-D Editor, perform the following steps:

  1. Select Environment mode.
  2. Add an environment, if one does not exist.
  3. Start the 3-D Editor (3-D Edit menu, Launch 3-D Editor, or Ctrl+L). The current 3-D environment will be automatically loaded and displayed in the viewers.

NOTE: If no 3-D geometry file is selected, the viewers will be empty.

  1. Create or edit the current 3-D geometry.
  2. Close the 3-D Editor to return to Environment mode. The current 3-D environment geometry is displayed in the Environment Viewer.
